What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace you will be part of the Sensors team based in Burnsville Minnesota. The Mechanical Engineer Intern will work in the Air Data Sensors (ADS) design team and be responsible for working on integrated product teams to develop new advanced air data sensors products while also supporting existing products in production. The mechanical intern will be part of an integrated research and development team focused on developing new sensor intern should have a broad interest in the field of engineering. You will be engaged in new and existing product design including but not limited to the design of sensor packaging prototype build/test activities design for manufacturing and documentation.

• Provide support to Design Engineers in areas such as: mechanical CAD design thermal analysis material science system testing data collection and analyzing test data
• Participate in design decision making and lab prototype testing
• Work fluidly within multidisciplinary cross-functional teams executing projects according to plan
• You will have access to a world class wind tunnel environmental test lab and forensics investigation lab to help our team continue delivering industry leading air data solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelors or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or related Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with MATLAB

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience research coursework or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel Word and/or PowerPoint)
• Experience with CAD tools such as NX Solidworks AutoCAD Creo Fusion 360 or equivalent
• Experience working on cross-functional teams
• Prior RTX internship co-op or work experience

The salary range for this role is 37000 USD - 82000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
