Historian (Archival Researcher)

Duties As a Historian (Archival Researcher), you will: Determine which aspects need to be treated in detail and considerable depth and which can be adequately handled with critical judgment and in more summary fashion; which aspects should be treated in unpublished reports primarily for administrative use and which should be made public; which require separate reports (published or unpublished); and which aspects are so interrelated that they should be handled as sets of tables, check lists, or bibliographies. Such historical research reports can sometimes present major planning problems, including major aspects of planning, research, development, and presentation.Use contacts as a means of identifying areas in which historical research should be undertaken in anticipation of future management needs, either personally undertaking such projects or recommending and justifying them to management level officials of the Mint.Review the completed contributions of the participating divisions to ensure that they conform to specifications and reflect a complete picture of the operation.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentThis opportunity is also open to Status Candidates under Announcement 22-MINT-192. For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service.Basic requirements: A. Bachelor's degree in history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history.OR B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.Specialized experience for this position includes:conducting research and analyzing material ANDmaintaining documents/files and copies of official records in a repository or archive. ANDcomposing historical information and reports ANDexperience conducting presentations and sharing information on historical issues and their relevance to the organizationEducationEducation Requirements: A.
