Payroll Clerk

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Processes all employee data pertinent to payroll, including tax reconciliation, benefit changes, and permanent employee records. Prepares all necessary support documents and reports. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform all in-house payroll processes, such as entering payroll data for new hires, terminations, salary changes, payroll deductions, hours worked, commissions, incentive pay, etc. Balance time and verify employee time off information. Assist in preparation of journal entries using the payroll general ledger program for posting to the general ledger system. Assist in balancing federal/state payroll taxes, submitting 401k deductions, cafeteria plan and other payroll deductions to appropriate third‑party administrator. Assist in balancing and paying all insurance bills; includes updating files with new hires, changes and termination information on enrolled employees. Respond to written employment verification requests. Assist employees with payroll, time off and other related questions or problems. Perform other duties as assigned by management. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school plus two years of college or business school training; two to four years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior payroll/human resources experience preferred. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel. Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to work under strict time deadlines. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
