Now Hiring: Assistant General Manager Dogtopia of Sacramento – Nimbus Winery Love dogs and have a passion for leading people? We’re looking for an organized, dependable, and motivated Assistant General Manager to help lead our dog daycare, boarding, and spa operations. As the Assistant General Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations, develop our team, build relationships with pet parents, and support business growth. This is a hands‑on leadership position that requires balancing exceptional dog care, customer service, team accountability, and business performance. Main Responsibilities Daily Operations & Dog Care Help oversee all aspects of daycare, boarding, and spa operations. Ensure dogs receive safe, attentive care and that team members follow established handling and supervision procedures. Oversee boarding routines, including feeding, medication administration according to policy, scheduled care, and accurate documentation. Monitor playroom assignments, staffing coverage, and dog transitions throughout the day. Ensure vaccination requirements, care instructions, and dog profiles are accurate and current. Address health or behavior concerns promptly, communicate with pet parents, and ensure appropriate documentation and follow‑up. Support emergency response procedures and elevate concerns to the General Manager as needed. Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, and safety checklists are completed consistently. Team Leadership & Development Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training employees. Support and coach Shift Leads, Canine Coaches, and front desk team members. Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, attendance, performance, and customer service. Help create schedules that balance dog attendance, business needs, and labor goals. Monitor breaks, timekeeping, and overtime in accordance with company policy and applicable requirements. Provide ongoing feedback, recognize strong performance, and assist with performance reviews and corrective action. Build a positive team culture through clear communication, teamwork, and leading by example. Step into playrooms, front desk duties, and other operational roles when needed. Pet Parent Experience & Sales Build lasting relationships with pet parents through friendly, knowledgeable, and consistent service. Oversee efficient check‑ins, pickups, reservations, and communication. Confidently explain daycare, boarding, spa services, pricing, packages, and wellness plans. Support lead follow‑up, Meet & Greet scheduling, enrollment conversions, and customer retention. Help resolve questions, complaints, billing concerns, and service issues professionally. Ensure the team communicates important updates about each dog’s stay and follows through on pet parent requests. Business Performance & Administration Assist the General Manager with monitoring revenue, enrollment, boarding occupancy, labor, and other key performance indicators. Help the team meet sales and service goals through coaching and consistent follow‑up. Review operational reports and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. Support accurate payment processing, account management, and financial records. Monitor inventory and coordinate ordering of cleaning, dog care, office, and other essential supplies. Help implement promotions, community events, and local marketing initiatives. Communicate staffing needs, maintenance issues, operational concerns, and business updates to the General Manager. Serve as the manager on duty when assigned and help maintain consistent operations in the General Manager’s absence. What We’re Looking For Previous supervisory or management experience; dog daycare, boarding, animal care, or hospitality experience preferred A strong commitment to dog safety, quality care, and exceptional customer service The ability to lead, coach, and hold a team accountable respectfully Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through Confidence handling customer concerns and making decisions within company guidelines Comfort discussing pricing, supporting sales goals, and reviewing business performance Experience with scheduling, computer systems, data entry, and reporting The ability to stay calm, prioritize, and solve problems in a busy environment A willingness to work hands‑on with dogs and support all areas of the facility Availability for opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled Dogtopia of Sacramento – Nimbus Winery & Land Park As much as we’d like to spend all day with our dogs, it’s not always possible.
