Dean and Chief Academic Officer

The client seeks an innovative and collaborative Dean and Chief Academic Officer (CAO) to serve as a critical member of its leadership team. The CAO reports to the client’s president and partners with senior administrators, faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees to advance the organization’s educational mission, goals, and strategic priorities in a rapidly evolving arts education environment. The CAO oversees the organization’s academic functions, with responsibility for delivering high-quality educational programs and fostering educational excellence through innovation in teaching and learning. Key areas include academic agenda and compliance across the college, curricular design and implementation, academic departments, academic faculty contracting and pay, and academic operations such as registrar functions, scheduling, assessment, and accreditation. The CAO also leads and supports academic and student life initiatives, including the Center for Teaching and Learning, advising and wellness, and student and residence/campus life. In partnership with the Chief Artistic Officer, the CAO supports academic faculty recruitment and professional development, helps manage the college budget, and encourages integrative, cross-faculty collaboration to strengthen student success and professional preparation.
