This is a Clinical Nurse I vacancy open to candidates with 0-1 year of RN work experience. There are five positions available. The job posting date is 10/5/2026, and the target start date is 2/1/2027 for full-time nights.

Unit Bio

Known as R9, this unit is comprised of 36-beds. Twenty-four beds are designated to acute care medical surgical acuity, with medical telemetry capabilities caring for a wide variety of adults with acute and chronic medical conditions. The remaining 12 beds are designated to general intermediate care (IMC) acuity. Our department thrives on collaboration, where every team member's contribution is valued and respected. The friendly and approachable nature of our staff fosters a welcoming environment that encourages open communication and mutual support. We proudly promote inclusivity and a growth-oriented culture, made evident based on the number of travelers that have transitioned into permanent roles as well as C.N.A.'s who will be continuing their career on the unit as new RN's. Summary

In accordance with national standards of nursing practice and within the guidelines and policies and procedures of both Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of the effects of nursing care. Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community basis.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year.
• License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in relevant specialty preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year prior RN work experience. Meets all requirements of Clinical Nurse I. Completion of Level I usually achieved by 12 months of employment. Med/surg or telemetry experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients' conditions and to initiate appropriate action.
• Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action.
• Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families.
• Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.

The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package. The pay rate for this position is $38.27 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
