Procurement Operations & Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise a team of buyers and purchasing professionals.
- Establish daily priorities, workload assignments, and performance expectations.
- Allocate procurement resources across operational, project, and category requirements.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to improve performance and professional capabilities.
- Monitor purchasing activity to ensure timely execution and appropriate follow-through.
- Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence within an active industrial environment.
- Promote accountability, urgency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the procurement team.
- Own and continuously improve the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay process.
- Ensure purchase orders are created accurately and promptly to support operational requirements.
- Establish standards for purchase order processing, follow-up, expediting, and issue resolution.
- Monitor procurement transactions and identify delays, discrepancies, and process bottlenecks.
- Partner with Finance and other stakeholders to resolve purchasing and invoicing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure ERP data integrity.
- Drive adherence to established procurement policies, procedures, and controls.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategic vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times, delivery schedules, and other purchasing requirements.
- Evaluate supplier performance and address issues involving cost, quality, delivery, or service.
- Support supplier selection and sourcing activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance and reduce procurement risk.
- Ensure supplier commitments align with operational and project requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
- Conduct cost-benefit and total lifecycle cost analyses for purchasing decisions.
- Evaluate supplier pricing and commercial proposals.
- Track documented procurement savings and cost avoidance.
- Analyze purchasing trends and spend data to identify opportunities for strategic sourcing.
- Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations related to procurement strategy and supplier decisions.
- Support procurement requirements for plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and capital projects.
- Coordinate purchasing activities associated with large-scale projects and facility expansion.
- Help identify and resolve procurement constraints that could impact production or project schedules.
- Work with technical stakeholders to understand specifications, delivery requirements, and commercial considerations.
- Ensure procurement activities support operational continuity and project timelines.
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Serve as a key user and operational resource for SAP/ERP procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP environment.
- Monitor procurement transactions and ensure adherence to system processes.
- Leverage SAP data to evaluate purchasing activity, supplier performance, costs, and KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement workflows through technology and automation.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to troubleshoot system or transaction issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, speed, and transparency.
- Use data analytics and procurement technology to improve decision-making.
- Develop and monitor procurement KPIs.
- Identify repetitive or inefficient processes suitable for automation or standardization.
- Lead or participate in procurement transformation initiatives.
- Serve as a change leader when implementing new processes, systems, or tools.

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics , or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, project procurement, or supply chain experience.
- Experience working within an industrial, mining, refining, petrochemical, manufacturing, or similarly complex operating environment .
- 3+ years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing purchasing professionals, buyers, procurement specialists, or expeditors.
- Experience leading a team of at least 3 employees; 5+ preferred .
- Hands-on experience with SAP or another ERP/MRP system; SAP experience required .
- Strong knowledge of Procure-to-Pay processes.
- Understanding of commercial purchasing terms and supplier negotiations.
- Experience conducting cost analysis and evaluating total lifecycle costs.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint .
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Master's degree or MBA in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- CPSM certification or equivalent professional procurement certification.
- Experience supporting capital projects or major industrial expansions.
- Experience managing procurement in mining, chemical processing, refining, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Experience with procurement analytics and spend analysis.
- Experience leading ERP or procurement technology implementations.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience.
- Commercially minded and financially analytical
