Job Title CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector 5 Group CEI Employment Type Regular Job Site Location South Carolina - Columbia Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction. Valid driver’s license. 6 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency contingent on duties and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Responsibilities Perform complex and routine/standard inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are used and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions. Use higher grade equipment and perform complex calculations as part of construction inspection. Work under limited or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge. Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection. Understand the design of the construction to be inspected. Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor. Skills and Abilities Communicate verbally and in writing in English. Intermediate knowledge of arithmetic. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Good knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction. Ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
