Field Service Technician

Overview The Field Service Technician is a critical role responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial controls and machinery. This position involves responding to on‑site service calls, performing PLC logic troubleshooting and updates, installing controls, programming variable speed drives, estimating service costs, and providing quotes. The technician will interact with customers, offering potential upgrades, enhancements, or replacements, and will be expected to engage in control panel fabrication when not traveling. Duties & Responsibilities Industrial controls and industrial machinery service, troubleshooting and repair. PLC logic troubleshooting and updating. On‑site service calls. Controls installations. Variable speed drive programming, startup and troubleshooting. Service cost estimating and quoting. Requirements & Skill Set Ability to respond to service calls for industrial controls with little notice. Troubleshooting skills using software, meters and various test equipment. Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 lbs. up to a height of 3 feet. Knowledge of controls such as PLC’s, DC drives, AC VFD’s, Servos and HMI’s. PLC programming knowledge for connecting, troubleshooting and changes. Education Two‑year degree. High school diploma. Trade school. GED to be evaluated. Expectations Control panel fabrication when not traveling. Ability to travel on‑site for extended times. Interfacing with customers to offer possible upgrades, enhancements or replacements.
