Overview:
We are currently seeking a reliable and observant Security Officer Captain to serve one of our local clients within the Schools Division in Iredell County. The ideal candidate will bring professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain a secure and welcoming environment. This role may also include providing support at school functions or community events, where interaction with large groups and the general public is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and screen all patrons entering the facility using handheld metal detectors (“wanding”)
• Conduct bag checks to ensure compliance with safety protocols
• Provide visible patrol presence to deter disruptive or unsafe behavior
• Monitor foot traffic and, when necessary, assist with traffic control in designated areas
• Assist with school events and large public gatherings by managing crowds, directing foot traffic, and helping ensure safety protocols are followed
• Maintain order and appropriately address disruptive or unruly behavior
• Operate surveillance and security monitoring equipment as required
• Secure entrances and exits; lock doors and check for unauthorized access
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations
• Write accurate incident and activity reports
• Assist patrons and school staff in a courteous and professional manner
• Follow all protocols for safety, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Be physically prepared to stand, walk, lift (up to 75 lbs), and work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Prior experience as a Security Officer, Guard, or in public event security (preferred)
• Demonstrated experience working with public activities or community events
• Valid Security License or registration (or ability to obtain if required by local law)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Familiarity with security and surveillance systems
• First Aid/BLS certification and basic self-defense training a plus
• Strong communication, observation, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies professionally
• Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work independently
• Comfortable working in outdoor conditions including inclement weather
• Ability to lift or move items up to 75 lbs, including barriers, signs, or safety equipment
• Able to medically, mentally, and physically perform duties as assigned. Any assistance in performing duties that are protected by ADA should be disclosed beforehand so the company can accommodate.

• All candidates are subject to mandatory drug testing

Work Environment:

• Non-smoking environment – all personnel must comply with smoke-free policies
• Physical role requiring regular standing, walking, lifting, and occasional stair climbing
• Work performed indoors and outdoors depending on the assignment
