Tax Experienced Manager, Private Client & Family Office Services

Overview The Tax Experienced Manager, Private Client & Family Office Services (PCS-FOS) manages the full life cycle of assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review and overall portfolio financial performance. This role also covers client relationship management, reporting financial information, making financial management recommendations, timely billing, and resolution of client issues. The position applies knowledge to understand potential tax issues, communicates potential risks and tax policy changes, and makes high-level decisions regarding filing, preparation, and responses to questions from federal/state agencies. The PCS-FOS Experienced Manager is a key member of the office/region leadership team and participates in marketing, networking, and business development while maintaining client relationships and acting as the primary contact for complex questions. Key Responsibilities Client Service Delivery: Manage the full life cycle of all assigned engagements by providing technical expertise in finance and accounting functions. Perform complete general ledger reconciliation, record transactions, produce accurate financial statements, and provide financial analysis. Understand client technology packages for accounting/finance functions; describe major functions, and how the system performs them. Explain the purpose and value of system functions and identify underutilized capabilities. Learns new technology quickly and applies technologies to engagements. Facilitate discovery meetings with clients to identify objectives, preferred financial metrics, and current internal structures. Design integrated solutions, outline them concisely, and vet with leadership and stakeholders. Accurately determine the cost of client solutions and assess profitability; propose fixed-fee options based on scope when margins allow. Collaborate with Senior Managers to formulate recommendations on technical accounting issues, policies, and financial management matters. Educate clients on evolving finance and accounting needs as their business grows; identify areas of opportunity and future needs. Periodically review solutions with clients to ensure continued fit and recommend changes as needed. Manage conflict and involve senior leadership as necessary; support clients through business changes and change management. Gather information from clients to execute engagements and maintain a running list of required information. Develop and maintain strong client relationships and act as the primary contact for complex questions. Understand tax planning concepts for various business entities and discuss tax return forms with clients to navigate business decisions and implications; refer tax-related matters to Core Tax and Specialty Tax Services when appropriate. Business Development and Leadership: Develop business development strategies and service offerings for various industries; ensure CRM data is current. Recommend and design client solutions; evaluate client acceptance and prepare statements of work with leadership support. Engage with industry teams and business development resources; participate in networking and industry groups. Identify new opportunities with existing clients and communicate them to leadership. Articulate PCS-FOS’s value proposition and target market to clients, prospects, and contacts. Developing Others and Project Management: Identify staff development needs and recruit/ onboard Associates and Senior Associates; mentor and support analytics and forecasting skills. Lead project planning, including scope, budgeting, milestones, dependencies, and progress reviews; ensure timely billing and contribute to forecasting and key metrics. Monitor client satisfaction with deliverables, staff performance, and engagement outcomes; resolve billing issues in accordance with SOW and PSC-FOS best practices. Tax-Related Duties Research: Identify when research is needed, frame issues clearly, report analyses, and train managers/staff on research skills. Involve firm specialists as appropriate. Strategy Development: Propose and refine ideas to improve client positions or firm efficiency; present complex strategies to clients when needed. Other Duties Travel up to 20% of the time; other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise associates and senior associates; review work and provide feedback; train on software tools; may serve as a Career Advisor; manage workload and provide performance feedback. Qualifications and Experience One of the following is required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with seven (7) or more years of general accounting experience, or Nine (9) or more years of general accounting experience with supervisory/consultative experience without a degree. MBA or other relevant advanced degree (Masters in Accountancy) preferred. Three or more years of supervisory experience preferred. Experience with outsourced/delivery center operations and/or consultative or business advisory experience preferred. CPA certification preferred. Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with accounting software and BDODrive platform (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Microsoft NAV, Bill.com) preferred; experience with accounting research tools preferred; SEI Archway and Qvinchi preferred. Language: N/A Other knowledge, skills, and abilities: strong communication; solid accounting and GAAP/TAX knowledge; ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects; travel up to 25% of the time. Salary and Benefits Individual salaries offered are determined by qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. Range examples by location include: Colorado $125,000-$150,000; Maryland $121,000-$145,000; Massachusetts $130,000-$147,750; New Jersey $130,000-$165,000; NYC/Long Island/Westchester $170,000-$185,000; Washington DC $140,000-$162,000.
