Chief of Genetics

Salary: $350,000 - 400,000 per year Requirements:

• We are seeking a Chief of Genetics / Medical Director to lead our precision medicine initiative.
• We are looking for a physician who can serve as the clinical leader from the start.
• We need someone able to guide a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10 staff members, including APPs, health coaches, technicians, and navigators.
• We are seeking experience in designing clinical protocols, standard operating procedures, and patient intake workflows.
• We need a leader capable of directing Epic integration for pharmacogenomic alerts, referral triggers, and care-team information sharing.
• We value the ability to collaborate with medical school faculty on publications and grant submissions.
• We are looking for a scientific leader who can partner with our research department on follow-on studies.
• We need someone who can engage physicians across the full continuum of care.
• We are seeking a leader who can oversee quality and outcomes tracking and present annual progress to governance.

• We will have the Chief of Genetics serve as the clinical lead for our Meritus Personal Health Institute from launch.
• We will rely on this leader to manage a 10-person team that includes APPs, health coaches, technicians, and navigators.
• We will expect this role to create clinical protocols, SOPs, and the 2.5-hour participant intake process.
• We will have this leader oversee Epic integration for PGx prescribing alerts, referral prompts, and care-team information exchange.
• We will ask this role to partner with Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine faculty on publications and grant applications.
• We will have this leader act as a scientific partner to the research department for studies built on the clinical program.
• We will expect engagement with Meritus physicians across the continuum of care.
• We will rely on this role to own quality and outcomes measurement and report annual progress to the MPHI Governance team.
• We will ask this leader to support revenue development through research grants, private foundations, and value-based care models.
• We will have this Medical Director oversee a broad assessment program including genomic sequencing, pharmacogenomics, cardiac risk testing, body composition and bone density testing, exercise testing, lipid evaluation, microbiome and nutrient analysis, frailty and cognitive assessment, wearable data integration, and MRI screening for high-risk patients.

We are launching the Meritus Personal Health Institute (MPHI), a first-of-its-kind population health precision medicine initiative rooted in the rural communities of Western Maryland. Backed by a $24M initial investment, we will enroll 10,000 residents in a longitudinal study that combines whole genome sequencing, advanced labs and imaging, pharmacogenomics, metabolic profiling, and personalized health coaching at no cost to the patient. Our goal is to increase healthy life expectancy in rural Maryland by three years while establishing Meritus as a national model for rural precision health. The role is based in Hagerstown, MD, about one hour from the Baltimore and Washington, DC metro areas, and includes a $400k base salary, a $50k sign-on bonus, and a full benefits package.
