The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Electrical Area Manager to lead the engineering, maintenance, and reliability of critical electrical utility systems within a complex manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of electrical infrastructure while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, employee development, and long-term facility performance. The successful candidate will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership to managers, engineers, supervisors, and technicians while supporting major electrical infrastructure initiatives, energy optimization programs, and facility improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the facilities electrical team, including managers, engineers, supervisors, and technicians

• Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop team members while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement

• Provide technical leadership and support for complex electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational challenges

• Oversee the startup, commissioning, testing, and integration of new electrical systems and facility equipment

• Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes, regulations, safety standards, and company policies

• Drive key performance metrics related to system uptime, reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational efficiency

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for critical electrical infrastructure

• Identify and execute initiatives to reduce operational costs and improve energy efficiency without compromising reliability

• Support vendor management activities, including service agreements, project contracts, and commercial negotiations

• Manage relationships with utility providers, contractors, consultants, and other external stakeholders

• Contribute to annual operating plans, capital budgets, and expense management initiatives

• Partner with facility leadership and cross-functional teams to develop strategic objectives and long-term operational plans

• Lead root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives related to equipment failures and system performance issues

• Promote and maintain a proactive electrical safety culture aligned with industry best practices

• Support facility upgrades, capital projects, and long-term infrastructure improvement programs

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

• Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial, critical facilities, utilities, or similar environments

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineers, supervisors, technicians, and technical teams

• Expert knowledge of industrial electrical power systems and electrical distribution infrastructure

• Extensive experience with medium- and low-voltage systems (480V-12.47kV)

• Strong working knowledge of transformers, switchgear, protective relaying, motor control systems, AC drives, motor starters, grounding systems, UPS systems, and emergency power generation equipment

• Experience with power monitoring and electrical distribution equipment

• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities

• Thorough understanding of electrical safety requirements, National Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA standards

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

• Experience managing budgets, maintenance programs, and operational performance metrics

• Knowledge of energy management, sustainability initiatives, and electrical infrastructure optimization is considered an asset

• Experience working directly with electrical utility providers is preferred

• Project management experience involving capital projects, facility upgrades, and infrastructure improvements is preferred

• Experience supporting multi-site operations or global organizations is considered an asset
