General Maintenance Technician

General Maintenance Technician Position Summary: Works in conjunction with other Operations staff to maintain all District sites and enhance a safe and attractive facility that supports a learning environment. This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & SafetySensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre‑employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety‑sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license. Responsibilities Operate and maintain District equipment. Repair or replace items around the school system, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, neat, and functional. Lubricate and service machinery, doors, locks, hinges, and other items as necessary. Use and maintain power tools. Keep work area clean. Prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards. Load and unload building materials, machinery, and tools. Clear snow and ice from site walkways, drives, and building access using ice melt, shoveling, scraping, or mechanical means. Ensure compliance with OSHA and district standards, policies, and procedures. Drive to and from sites to conduct maintenance, installation, and repairs during the workday. Assist with deliveries of containers, boxes, and other products around the District. Assist supervisor with inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring chemicals and equipment usage follows safety standards. Promote organizational effectiveness by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities during peak periods, inclement weather, or high workloads. Communicate effectively with all OKCPS personnel, students, and visitors. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required) Read, write, and perform basic math skills, normally obtained through completion of a high school diploma or GED. High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of one (1) year related experience required; construction experience preferred. Knowledge of power tools. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as defined by the district’s insurance carrier. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, and work on ladders and lifts, reach above shoulders, crouch, kneel, push, pull, perform repetitive hand and foot movements, grasp, and manipulate. Ability to lift up to 24 pounds continuously, 25–50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Work outside in all types of weather conditions. Ability to work from the top of district roofs. This job description is not intended to be all inclusive.
