Supervisor of College and Career Readiness

Classification: RSAA Position Range: Range 6 Reports To: Director of Instructional Services and Professional Development, RHS Principal/Associate Principal of Teaching and Learning.

Position Goals: To oversee and coordinate the District's implementation of the PA Department of Education's graduation requirements. This position will ensure students have the opportunity to demonstrate postsecondary preparedness through the Keystone Exams as well as one of four additional pathways that more fully illustrate college, career and community readiness. This position will collaborate with administrators and staff at the high school level as well as the Offices of Teaching and Learning and Student Support Services to develop and implement a clear plan for ensuring that all students graduate ready to enter the workforce or higher education as outlined by the PA College and Career Readiness Standards.

Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

• Develop, coordinate and oversee all aspects of the District's Act 158 Plan in collaboration with Central Office and high school administrators and staff.
• Assist with the implementation and oversight of activities related to the PA College and Career Readiness standards as they relate to Act 158.
• Participate in and provide professional development regarding Act 158 and PA College and Career Readiness standards to keep all pertinent staff abreast of current policy from the PA Department of Ed.
• Assist in the oversight and coordination of assessments related to Act 158 including, but not limited to: Keystone Exams, Advanced Placement Exams, ASVAB, ACT, SAT, etc.
• Establish systems to collect, organize, monitor and effectively communicate student data sets for the purpose of matching students to the appropriate graduation pathway as well as to ensure that students have satisfied the requirements for their respective pathways and the College and Career Readiness Benchmarks.
• Establish and maintain on-going communication with the RMCTC to ensure the successful completion of graduation requirements for students enrolled in CTE programs.
• Coordinate industry credentials including the development of related courses, curriculum and oversight of teachers responsible for teaching those courses.
• Develop and oversee a robust internship and work study program with a wide range of opportunities within the community that are accessible to students at all academic levels.
• Explore and develop new partnerships with local businesses, government and non-profit organizations to support internship and work study programs.
• Conduct site visits to current and potential internship sites to evaluate learning/work environments.
• Oversee the dual enrollment program and establish formal agreements with area colleges and universities to ensure a wide variety of dual enrollment offerings for high school students.
• Establish and manage formal agreements, contracts and/or MOUs with local businesses, colleges, universities and other community organizations for internships, dual enrollment and work study programs.
• Manage budget and other financial aspects related to program activities in collaboration with Central Office, RHS Administration and Federal Programs.
• Develop systems for effectively engaging parents in their child's graduation pathway and postsecondary plans through a variety of activities, including, but not limited to: parental engagement workshops to raise awareness of graduation requirements as well as internship and postsecondary opportunities, systems for parents to monitor their child's progress toward graduation, and methods for parents to communicate any questions or concerns.
• Collaborate with the Director of Communications to create and implement a formal communications plan to raise awareness of mandated graduation requirements as well as to market opportunities for internships, dual enrollment, work study programs and postsecondary opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise teachers and staff responsible for college and career readiness assessments, work study, industry credentials, dual enrollment, college transition and internships.

Qualifications: Cultural sensitivity and competence and a commitment to equity in all aspects of education. Experience working in urban environments and community agencies providing services to children and families. Deep knowledge of the regulations and procedures related to Act 158 and College and Career Readiness. Baseline knowledge of Federal Programs and the utilization of federal funds. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong data analysis and technical skills. Strong planning, organizational, problem solving, time-management and project manager skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as needed for various situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Education / Licensure / Experience Currently holds or is actively pursuing a Master's Degree in Education, School Counseling or other related field. Current certification in School Counseling or Secondary Education Currently holds or is actively pursuing an administrative certification as a Principal, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction or other related area. At least five years of relevant experience in a high school environment. Prior experience in the Reading School District and/or Berks County preferred.

Terms of Employment: As per terms and conditions set forth in the agreement between the RSAA and the Reading School District. 12 month exempt position. Evaluation: The employee will be formally evaluated with regard to his/her duties on a regular basis by the immediate supervisor as required by Board Policy and Department of Education regulations.
