TreasurerWe're seeking a dedicated volunteer Treasurer to join our board and help steward our finances. As a small nonprofit with a modest operating budget, our financial needs are straightforward — but the role is essential to keeping our mission moving forward. This is a meaningful opportunity to use your skills to directly support mental health awareness and advocacy in Tuscaloosa.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate records of all income and expensesReconcile the bank account monthlyPrepare simple financial reports for monthly board meetingsManage deposits, reimbursements, and bill paymentsManage memberships, including tracking new and renewing members and processing membership duesAssist in preparing the annual budgetEnsure timely filing of required nonprofit financial paperwork (e.g., IRS Form 990-N postcard for small nonprofits)Coordinate with NAMI Alabama and NAMI National on any required affiliate financial reportingQualificationsComfort with basic bookkeeping and spreadsheetsAttention to detail and organizational skillsTrustworthy, dependable, and discreetPrior treasurer, accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience is helpful but not requiredPassion for mental health advocacy is a plusWhat You'll GainMeaningful volunteer experience with a recognized national nonprofitBoard-level leadership experienceConnections with community leaders and mental health advocatesThe satisfaction of supporting a cause that impacts thousands of West Alabama familiesTo ApplyVisit namituscaloosa.org/contact or reach out through our website to express your interest.
