The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Medication Aide, who possesses the skills and desires to care for Kentucky's Veterans. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment. We offer flexible scheduling and holiday, weekend and shift premiums.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares, administers and charts medications and treatments.
• Performs medical treatments under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Takes temperatures, pulses and respiration and records on patient's chart.
• Participates in treatment team meetings.
• Provides first aide for minor injuries.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must possess current certification as a Certified Medication Aide I as administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions that requires the following of safety procedures. May occasionally encounter patients/residents with unpredictable behavior. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
