TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Saint Louis, Missouri, 63110!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-acuity PACU or ICU setting required. License: Current nursing license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS required. Must-Have: Experience in phase I PACU. Critical care experience including care of ventilated patients, invasive monitoring, and blood product administration. Proficiency in Epic charting system. Dysrhythmia recognition and management skills. Ability to start IVs and administer IV vasopressors. Description: Schedule is from 07:30 to 18:00. No weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts are required. Average daily census ranges from 70 to 90 patients. The unit contains 38 patient bays. The patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients. The focus is on recovery for diverse surgical patients, including neurosurgery, orthopedic, and trauma surgeries, among others. Surgical patients such as ENT, plastics, thoracic, vascular, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries are commonly encountered. Open heart surgeries and liver transplants are not recovered in this unit. Critical care experience is essential as some patients may require artificial airways and monitoring. Floating may occur within the PACU or PreOp units based on facility needs. Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, and mechanical ventilation is essential for this role. Staff is supported by a dedicated transport team on the unit. The unit operates 24/7 and requires staffing to recover a wide range of acute surgical patients. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia recognition exam prior to assignment. All travelers will float within the service line as needed. Cancellations of contracts are not permitted without completing an assignment elsewhere.
