Days can vary depending on clinic schedule. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and/or Fridays mornings or afternoons Job Description Summary Provides supervision to student dental hygienists during client care in the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Assesses dental health status of dental clients. Essential Functions Provides supervision to dental hygiene students during client care in the Dental Hygiene Clinic Performs medical/dental assessment of dental hygiene clients Authorizes dental hygiene students to treat clients Properly manages any dental or medical emergencies Interprets radiographs and conducts radiographic and pharmacological consultation with students Authorizes dental sealants, places temporary restorations, checks emergency equipment, and consults with clinical coordinator when appropriate Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING DMD (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) or DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) Ohio license to practice dentistry Minimum of five years of professional demonstrated related experience Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Possess strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to travel to all clinical affiliates Ability to promote student success Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently Demonstrated intermediate project management skills Demonstrated flexibility and prioritizing ability Possess working knowledge of dentistry concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population COMPETENCIES CRITICAL COMPETENCIES Service Focus Communication Quality of Work VERY IMPORTANT COMPETENCIES Time Utilization Adaptability IMPORTANT COMPETENCIES Collaboration Continuous Improvement Preferred Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING Current CPR Certification PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS (The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
