Water Utility WorkerThe City of Katy is looking for a dependable and hardworking Water Utility Worker to help maintain and support the City's water system. This role is hands-on and essential to keeping water services running safely and efficiently for the community. If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being part of a team that makes a real impact, this could be a great fit.Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water mains and service linesFlush, repair, and replace fire hydrants to ensure proper operationRebuild and repair water meters and assist with meter readings for billingRespond to service calls, including checking for leaks and assisting customersTurn water services on and off for new and closing accountsClean and maintain groundwater storage tanks and prepare for inspectionsRestore concrete, sidewalks, and asphalt following water line repairsSupport the team during emergencies and critical events to maintain City servicesTake on additional duties as needed to support water system operationsHigh school diploma or GEDBasic mechanical experience is helpful, but not requiredWillingness to learn, work hard, and be part of a teamStrong work ethic and commitment to safetyAbility to provide good customer service and interact professionally with residentsValid Texas driver's license required; Class B CDL may be requiredGroundwater Treatment Plant Operator Class D license is a plusThis is a physically demanding role requiring lifting, outdoor work, and exposure to various weather and environmental conditionsDesignated as Essential Critical Infrastructure personnelThis is an opportunity to do meaningful, hands-on work that directly supports the community. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, and intense noises.
