Senior Program Manager Data Center Services (Remote)

Job Purpose

EnerSys Field Services is establishing a dedicated leadership role to launch and scale the NOIR battery solution for data center customers while governing a multi-region portfolio of data center capital projects. This role is accountable for deployment readiness, project controls, customer execution, contractor performance, safety, quality, commissioning, financial performance, and service handoff. This leader will build a repeatable operating model that converts commercial commitments into safe, predictable, on-time, and on-budget deployments across North America.

ROLE MANDATE: Create the launch playbook, lead multiple regional projects simultaneously, and establish the governance, resources, partners, and service model required to scale NOIR in the data center market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

NOIR launch and deployment readiness

• Own the integrated launch plan and stage gates from customer requirements and site assessment through design, permitting, bill of materials, logistics, installation, commissioning, acceptance, warranty, and ongoing service.

Capital portfolio leadership

• Direct multiple concurrent data center capital projects across regions, balancing scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, customer commitments, and business priorities.

Project governance and controls

• Establish standard work, schedules, budget baselines, risk registers, change control, forecast cadence, executive dashboards, and closeout requirements.

Technical and construction oversight

• Provide leadership across AC/DC power, battery and UPS systems, generators, switchgear, HVAC, controls, alarms, fire/life safety, commissioning, and critical-facility work practices.

Cross-functional execution

• Align Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Field Services, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Finance, Legal, and customer teams around a single deployment plan.

Customer and executive leadership

• Serve as the senior point of accountability for project performance, escalations, decisions, recovery plans, and executive communications.

Contractor and partner management

• Build and manage a qualified regional network of installation partners, commissioning resources, specialty trades, and suppliers with clear commercial and performance expectations.

Safety, quality, and operational continuity

• Enforce safe work planning, MOP/SOP/EOP discipline, QA/QC, code compliance, test documentation, and zero-impact execution in live data center environments.

Workforce and service readiness

• Define staffing, training, certification, tools, spares, technical support, and handoff requirements so installations transition cleanly into warranty and lifecycle service.

Continuous improvement and scale

• Capture lessons learned, reduce deployment cycle time, improve forecast accuracy, standardize designs and scopes, and drive repeatable margin and customer experience.

First 12-18 Month Priorities

Launch operating model

• Publish the end-to-end NOIR deployment playbook, decision rights, stage gates, templates, acceptance criteria, and executive reporting cadence.

Pilot-to-scale execution

• Deliver initial deployments with disciplined lessons learned and convert the pilot approach into a repeatable regional delivery model.

Portfolio visibility

• Implement a single source of truth for project scope, schedule, cost, cash flow, risks, changes, resource demand, and customer commitments.

Regional capacity

• Qualify contractors, establish coverage plans, and align technician training, commissioning capability, spares, and support resources with the sales pipeline.

Service transition

• Create a formal turnover process from project delivery to monitoring, warranty, preventive maintenance, corrective service, and customer support.

Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years in engineering, construction, capital program management, or operations within data centers, telecommunications, critical power, utilities, or other mission-critical facilities.

Leadership scale  

• Demonstrated success leading managers, technical teams, contractors, and multiple concurrent projects across several geographic regions.

Financial accountability  

• Direct responsibility for large, multi-million-dollar capital portfolios, forecasts, project economics, change control, and executive reporting.

Technical fluency  

• Working knowledge of AC/DC power, batteries and UPS systems, generators, switchgear, HVAC, controls, alarms, and fire/life safety systems.

Project lifecycle  

• Experience from requirements definition and estimating through RFP/SOW development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.

Critical-environment discipline

• Proven ability to plan and execute work in 24/7 operating environments using formal risk controls, MOPs, quality plans, and stakeholder approvals.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field; equivalent military and industry experience may be considered.

Travel  

• Ability to travel regularly to customer, partner, and project sites throughout North America.

Preferred Qualifications

Data center delivery

• Experience managing data center critical-power or infrastructure portfolios across multiple sites or customers.

Battery deployment  

• Experience with battery, UPS, energy storage, commissioning, monitoring, and service-transition programs.

Credentials  

• PMP or equivalent project management certification; electrical journeyman license or comparable technical qualification.

High-reliability background

• Experience in nuclear, utility, aerospace, military, telecommunications, or other environments where safety, configuration control, and uptime are paramount.

Decision Rights and Authority

Project baselines

• Approve scopes, schedules, budgets, risk responses, recovery plans, and closeout readiness within delegated authority.

Deployment readiness

• Recommend go/no-go decisions based on design maturity, resources, materials, site readiness, safety, and customer dependencies.

Partner performance

• Qualify, assign, and escalate contractors and commissioning resources in accordance with procurement and quality policies.

Stop-work authority

• Pause work when safety, quality, compliance, or live-site operational risk is not adequately controlled.
