Registered Nurse (RN), Float Pool- Critical Care/Emergency, Full Time Days

Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care, practicing in an evidence‑based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. The RN performs all steps of the nursing process including assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care. In addition, the RN coordinates care with other providers and acts as a teacher to the patient and family to provide the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications. Essential Functions Assesses patients by collecting and documenting data through interviewing, history taking, personal needs and physical assessment findings. Obtains accurate and relevant assessment screening data and interprets the data as normal versus abnormal. Determines nursing diagnosis. Monitors and evaluates data as frequently as needed based on stability. Safely performs and documents care plan using the nursing procedures required for the patient assignment consistent with the standards of care. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and monitors patient for adverse responses and side effects. Assesses patient/family level of understanding and documents information on clinical records. Creates and maintains a climate conducive to healing through presence to patient and family, identification and management of discomforts, and provision of emotional support and education. Teaches needed information for self‑care and illness prevention to patient and family members. Recognizes and communicates ethical and legal issues relative to patient care; completes incident report. Performs all provision of care for any age‑related needs of the patients served on the unit, including growth and development principles. Attends meetings and serves on departmental and/or hospital committees as assigned. Works to support the achievement of department strategic and organizational goals. Employee performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE standards of the hospital; C‑I‑CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare Tri‑Valley patient‑experience and represents a framework for patient‑centered interactions. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Experience: Minimum one year of prior acute‑care ICU Registered Nurse experience required. Experience: Minimum one year of prior Emergency Department Registered Nurse experience required. License/Certification: Current CA R.N. License. License/Certification: Current American Heart Association BLS Certification. License/Certification: Relevant departmental certification as required (see addendum). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong communication skills; ability to read, write and understand English; strong attention to detail; ability to problem‑solve and adapt in a changing environment; ability to use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision‑making in patient care; ability to work as a valued team member, while also working autonomously; ability to positively influence others to meet patient needs and achieve shared goals; ability to effectively prioritize to provide quality and valued patient care; knowledge of principles, practices and current trends in health care and hospital system organization and administration sufficient to provide clinical management, leadership, coordination, and operational direction for assigned areas of responsibility. Compensation Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $77.69 – $95.52 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
