Job Description

The Float Pool Nurse Assistant is responsible for the evidence-based care of a group of patients. This includes:

• Assisting the RN, LPN, and other members of the interdisciplinary team with care plan development.
• Attending interdisciplinary team meetings and contributing to the team.
• Performing support duties for diagnostic procedures.
• Providing nursing care, including personal care and grooming.
• Monitoring bladder and bowel functioning, tracking I&O and hydration.
• Providing health care services such as Foley catheter insertion/discontinuation/care, obtaining vital signs, blood glucose, or EKG, activities of daily living, and postmortem care.
• Monitoring psychiatric symptoms and assisting in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
• Maintaining patient safety and the safety of the environment.
• Providing one-to-one observations to ensure patient safety.
• The NA float can work in multiple areas including ICU, ED, ASU/PACU, Med/Surg/Tele, Short Stay Rehabilitation, Nursing Home, Hospice, Inpatient Acute Psychiatry Unit, Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment Program (RRTP), or outpatient clinics, and must maintain competencies in all areas.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
