RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides skilled nursing care to mothers and newborns in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. The nurse supports the PM shift with flexibility for weekend work and may float to the mother-baby unit as needed. Strong caregiving skills and relevant certifications are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in labor and delivery or related areas.
• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
• Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BCLS, and NRP.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Precepting experience to support training and mentoring of staff.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius preferred.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend work is required; schedule depends on contract length.
• No on-call requirement.
• May be required to float to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at application.
• Facility allows any scrub color.
• Free parking is provided.
• Guaranteed hours with potential for one call-off per two-week pay period.

Scheduling:

• Primarily PM shift coverage with some weekend shifts.
• Block scheduling may be implemented at manager's discretion.
• Flexibility to work weekends and float between units as needed.
