Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division W B Jones Alcohol, Drug Abuse Treatment Center Job Classification Title Nurse Consultant I (NS) Position Number 60036472 Grade MH16 Description Of Work The Nurse Educator is responsible for overseeing the overall educational needs of Walter B. Jones (WBJ) nursing staff which includes RN, LPNs and HCTs. Responsible for data collection and record keeping for all trainings provided directly or in conjunction with Nursing Services/Nursing Management. Assesses learning needs annually, serving as a resource to and instructing staff. Serves as the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructor and will conduct training during New Employee Orientation. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of quality assurance program practices; planning and development of assessment tools and techniques to include use of software and reporting mediums. Knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and psychiatric nursing theory and processes. Ability to organize, develop and conduct formal training programs. Knowledge of principles and practices of state and federal law standards, certifying and accrediting bodies, guidelines, and regulations applicable to areas of assignment. Ability to communicate effectively with professional and administrative personnel. Sign‑on Bonus Sign‑on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025‑2026 Budget Approval. Eligible for sign‑on bonus if newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee works 30‑40 hours per week; less than 40 hours receives prorated rate. Ineligible if: held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months; previously received a sign‑on bonus from any State agency; DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. Facility The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co‑occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community‑based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders. Minimum Education And Experience Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
