POSITION Summary:
Routes all outgoing shipments through various means of transportation following standard procedures. Prioritizes workload and expedites as required. Completes necessary bills of lading and air bills. Maintains daily file of shipments and reports daily figures as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Approximately 75% data entry responsibilities.
- Enters daily shipment data in computer to create packing slips or labels.
- Interacts with customers, vendors, AND couriers
- Prepares paperwork for shipments with attendant calls to carriers.
- Operates fork truck and other equipment in shipping area as required.
- Enters UPS shipment information in computer to create labels.
- Prepares truck “bills of lading” for commercial carrier freight
- Call carrier for pick-ups.
- Weighs or measures items and verifies/records against packing slips as needed.
- Communicates with Value Stream Leaders to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
- Interaction with all departments.
- Responsible for complying with safety programs and policies.
- Maintains an organized and clean work area.
- Distribute paperwork to office as required.
- Participates in continuous improvement projects as identified and directed.
- Upholds company values.
- Performs all other job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO DO THE JOB:
- Computer proficiency, working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with shipping software (UPS, FedEx, USPS) both domestic and international shipments.
- Detail oriented with attention to accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong ability working with numbers.
- Demonstrated level of professionalism and positive attitude.
- Possess a strong customer focus.
