Surgical Technologist

Location: Central, Illinois

Pay: $27$38/hr (Surg Tech I & II)

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $20,000

Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program; certified or registered in IL

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1. The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to scrub for cases appropriate to the age of the patients served intra-operatively. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
2. Scrubs for procedures according to established aseptic technique guidelines.
3. Possesses analytical skills necessary to organize and prepare the operating room prior to surgery.
4. Assists surgeons intra-operatively with routine and complex surgical procedures.
5. Anticipates and responds to the surgeons' needs during the course of the surgery.
6. Work requires a professional level of knowledge of anatomy and physiology, concepts of disease, aseptic technique, modern surgical principles, techniques, and procedures, at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
7. Work requires a minimum of four months intra-operative orientation and on-the-job training to develop proficiency in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in the operating room.
8. Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and concisely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other patient care providers.
9. Functions as a clinical resource person to various department personnel and other patient care givers assigned, including other surgical technologists, nurses, residents, and medical students.
