Dentist Position
As a Dentist within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities
This position will be based in Columbus, GA and will provide comprehensive dental services in a public health facility to include but not limited to diagnosis and restorative/preventative treatment of dental disease. This is not a remote position. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related oral structures, and provide preventive and corrective services
- Advise and instruct public health clients regarding preventive dental care, dental problems and oral health care services
- Formulates plan of treatment for patient's teeth and mouth tissue
- Provide dental care services to pediatric and adult patients
- Recommend program improvements, as needed
- Provide instruction and supervision to dental students in an university affiliated program.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Dentist 1 - (Hourly rate - $110.00 per hour) Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license to practice dentistry. Dentist 2 - (Hourly rate - $120.00 per hour) Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university AND One (1) year of experience at the lower-level Dentist 1 (HCP130) or position equivalent and current Georgia license to practice dentistry. Dentist 3 - (Hourly rate - $130.00 per hour) Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Dentist 2 (HCP131) or position equivalent and current Georgia license to practice dentistry.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
