26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) – Sociology Job No: 556859 Work Type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer Location: Central California: Fresno Categories: Bargaining Unit: Unit 3 – CFA – California Faculty Association, Appointment Type: Temporary, Time Basis: Part Time Position Summary The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses including: SOC 1: Intro to Sociology SOC 3: Critical Thinking about Society SOC 111: Race & Ethnicity SOC 125: Social Science Statistics SOC 130W: Contemporary Social Issues (Writing Course) Other courses identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Instructor Responsibility Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range for the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358). For a Master’s degree, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month (full‑time, 15 WTUs). Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open. Positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains available for two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond must reapply. Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in Sociology or a related field from an accredited institution. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications A PhD in Sociology or related field. A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
