Senior Mainframe DeveloperLocation: New YorkWe are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, and Control-M/CCS (or similar scheduling systems) to support critical enterprise applications. The role involves code screening, analysis/scraping, enhancement, and development on legacy mainframe systems, along with participation in modernization and integration efforts.Key Responsibilities:Perform code screening, analysis, and scraping of existing mainframe applications to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain COBOL-based applicationsDevelop and manage JCL jobs, including batch processing and scheduling workflowsWork with CCS / Control-M / enterprise scheduling systems for job automation and monitoringAnalyze legacy code and contribute to modernization strategiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration with distributed systems or APIsTroubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement fixesEnsure adherence to coding standards, performance guidelines, and security practicesDocument technical specifications, code changes, and system workflowsSupport QA/UAT cycles and deployment activitiesRequired Skills & Qualifications:8+ years of experience in Mainframe developmentStrong hands-on experience with: COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), Mainframe utilities (VSAM, DB2, CICS – as applicable)Experience with CCS / Control-M / similar job scheduling toolsExperience with DB2, CICS transaction processingProven experience in code analysis, reverse engineering, and refactoring legacy systemsStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsFamiliarity with batch processing and high-volume transaction systemsAbility to work independently and in a team-oriented environmentNice-to-Have Skills:Basic understanding of system integration concepts (APIs, middleware, web services)Exposure to mainframe modernization initiativesFamiliarity with distributed systems or cloud integrationKnowledge of DevOps practices for mainframe environments
