Safety Services Director

Baton Rouge, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Director of Safety Services to lead, operate, and grow a Safety Services Division serving industrial clients throughout the Gulf Coast. This is a business-unit leadership role requiring both strong commercial acumen and deep industrial safety expertise. The Director will own the division’s revenue, profitability, clients, people, workload, and growth while remaining technically capable, client-facing, and billable. The ideal candidate has experience leading or materially contributing to the operation of a safety consulting, professional services, contract safety, or similar client-facing business.

Essential Duties:

• Lead the overall performance, profitability, and strategic growth of the Safety Services Division.

• Own P&L performance, revenue growth, gross margin, annual budgets, financial forecasting, and project profitability.

• Develop and execute strategies to achieve revenue retention, backlog, pipeline, gross profit, and sustained profitability objectives.

• Manage staffing levels, workload planning, billable utilization, resource allocation, and capacity forecasting.

• Develop pricing, estimates, scopes of work, proposals, and resource plans for client engagements.

• Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline while identifying opportunities for new business, client retention, and account expansion.

• Develop trusted client relationships and serve as a senior technical and commercial resource throughout the engagement lifecycle.

• Remain actively client-facing and billable, particularly while developing additional professionals capable of assuming greater delivery responsibility.

• Conduct industrial safety audits, assessments, Job Hazard Analyses, and high-risk work evaluations.

• Develop, customize, and improve client safety programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.

• Develop and deliver safety training for industrial clients and their employees.

• Provide technical expertise related to lockout/tagout, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, life-safety programs, and other high-hazard industrial activities.

• Prepare technical reports, findings, recommendations, and corrective action strategies for clients.

• Provide turnaround, contract safety, and other project-based safety support as required.

• Evaluate client needs and independently develop the appropriate technical scope, pricing, staffing requirements, and execution strategy.

• Monitor project performance to ensure engagements meet quality, profitability, schedule, and client satisfaction expectations.

• Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop safety professionals while building technical and leadership capabilities throughout the team.

• Establish scalable processes, systems, standards, and operating practices that support continued division growth.

• Develop a high-performing team capable of delivering client services effectively without relying on a single individual for day-to-day execution.

• Maintain knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations, industry standards, occupational safety management systems, and industrial safety best practices.

Requirements/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive industrial safety experience; candidates with approximately 10–25 years of relevant experience are strongly encouraged.

• Significant leadership experience within industrial safety, consulting, professional services, contract safety, or a comparable client-facing service environment.

• Demonstrated experience owning or materially managing a P&L, business unit, practice, region, service line, or comparable operation.

• Proven ability to manage revenue, profitability, budgets, forecasts, backlog, pipeline, staffing, and billable utilization.

• Strong commercial understanding of professional services, including pricing, estimating, proposal development, scope development, project profitability, and resource planning.

• Demonstrated ability to win, retain, and expand client relationships and contribute to measurable business growth.

• Experience recruiting, mentoring, developing, and managing technical professionals.

• Ability and willingness to personally deliver industrial safety consulting services while simultaneously leading and growing the business.

• Strong industrial safety background in petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, heavy industrial, industrial construction, utilities, or similar high-hazard environments.

• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, occupational safety requirements, and safety management systems.

• CSP, ASP, CHST, CIH, or comparable professional certification preferred.

• Strong financial, analytical, organizational, leadership, communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.

• Ability to understand complex client challenges and translate them into practical scopes of work, staffing plans, pricing, and technical solutions.

• Entrepreneurial and ownership-oriented mindset with the ability to balance business development, financial performance, technical execution, and people leadership.

• Ability to travel to client and project locations throughout the Gulf Coast and other locations as business needs required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in both professional office environments and active industrial facilities.

• Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and navigate industrial sites for extended periods while conducting audits, assessments, training, and client engagements.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with client-specific safety requirements.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and tolerate environmental conditions commonly encountered at industrial, petrochemical, refining, construction, and manufacturing facilities.

• Ability to travel by vehicle and other means as required to support clients, projects, and business-development activities.

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
