Director, DT&I Product Management

Job Summary:The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) Product Management Director leads the product lifecycle for proprietary technology solutions supporting the tax practice and delivery of services to clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax and technology product development with a proven track record of successfully launching and managing products used to enable the delivery of professional services.A DT&I Product Management Director coordinates with the tax practice and software development team to set the strategic direction for creating and implementing technology to meet the needs of our clients and professionals. A DT&I Product Management Director will oversee a portfolio of products.Job Duties:Product Roadmap and Value CreationsDefines the product vision, strategy and roadmap to maximize value delivered by ensuring the prioritization of the roadmap is aligned with tax practice strategy and needsManages product scope, budget, and timelineLeads the product team in delivering valueCoordinates with Value Management Office or similar organization to track and report business value and value creationManages the product portfolio and lifecycle, including new product development and end-of-life decisionsOversees market analysis, competitive analysis, and product positioningProduct Development Lifecycle ManagementEnsures products are developed consistently with BDO’s tax technology strategy and guiding principlesEnsures product team members are following leading practices for providing requirements/user stories and working with the development team Oversees the process of gathering requirements/user storiesOversees the development and execution of product business testing plansCoordinates with the tax practice and technical teams for product release logistics Ensures all required prerelease reviews and approvals are completed prior to releaseManages the creation and execution of the deployment, adoption, and change management plans Manages the execution of product maintenance plans and budgetEnsures product complies will all relevant policies and risk issues are identified and addressedStakeholder ManagementServes as a face of the product for stakeholders, coordinating and communicating proactively with all relevant stakeholders Serves as a liaison between the business and developers, gathering and applying feedback from users and others in the tax practice Proactively manages stakeholder expectations and engagement to ensure product successMarket PresenceParticipates in pursuits by presenting BDO’s technology stack capabilities related to products under managementEducates tax professionals and business development professionals on BDO’s technology tools and how to present them as part of their pursuits and leverage them effectively on engagementsOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Ensures appropriate resources are assigned to managers, senior associates, and associates on projects to meet objectives and timelinesOversees Product Management managers, senior associates, and associates working on assigned projectsActs as career advisor to team members as assignedQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education:Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration or Computer Science, preferredMaster’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or J.D., preferredExperience:Ten (10) or more years of experience in tax and/or technology product management, requiredFour (4) or more years of experience in tax, preferredFour (4) or more years of experience in technology product management with a track record of successfully launching and managing product, preferredExperience with corporate taxation, consolidations, partnerships, and individuals preferredExperience with process design and/or improvement, preferredExperience serving in a product management/product owner role for enterprise grade tax applications that support the delivery of professional services, preferredLicense/Certifications:CPA, JD, EA, PMP, or other relevant certification, preferredCertified Product Manager, preferredSoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, requiredExperience with project management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.), preferredExperience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Income Tax compliance (OIT) software and ONESOURCE Tax Provision, preferredLanguage(s):N/AOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Strong knowledge of product management and implementing leading practicesStrong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teamsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions with sound judgementStrong organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrix organizationAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously Able to effectively manage a team of professionals and delegate work assignments as neededAble to encourage team environment on projects and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnelBuild and maintain relationships with stakeholders and all members of the product teamStrong executive presence with the ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levelsIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $215,000 - $240,000Maryland Range: $215,000 - $240,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $215,000 - $240,000At BDO, how we show up matters.
