The Research Assistant I position supports the development and validation of mathematical models related to tumor growth and radiation therapy. The Research Assistant I collaborates closely with investigators, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff, contributing to innovative projects that drive translational research. The Research Assistant I plays a key role in data integrity, model development, and scientific dissemination within UT MD Anderson.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and bring hands-on experience in computational research, with a preference for experience in numerical simulations of partial differential equations. This individual demonstrates strong analytical abilities, attention to data integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a research-driven academic environment.

Minimum $18.99 - Midpoint $23.80 - Maximum $28.61

Responsibilities
Research & Model Development
• Develop and numerically solve ordinary and partial differential equation models
• Simulate, calibrate, and validate mathematical models of tumor growth and radiation therapy

Data Management & Analysis
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of experimental results
• Support data abstraction, curation, analysis, and interpretation
• Ensure integrity and confidentiality of all collected data through rigorous quality assurance practices

Collaboration & Project Support
• Collaborate with Principal Investigator, co-investigators, and research teams to align activities with policies
• Assist the Principal Investigator in managing research studies and protocol requirements
• Facilitate execution of research plans across multidisciplinary teams

Scientific Communication
• Contribute to preparation of scientific manuscripts and publications
• Present research findings to professional audiences

Laboratory Operations & Compliance
• Manage laboratory equipment and support operational efficiency
• Enforce safety protocols and promote safe research practices

EDUCATION

• Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science.
