Senior Research Scientist / Engineer - Electronics R&D Linde Inc., Tonawanda, NY, United States | Published Mar 9 | Full-time | Req 27301 Responsibilities Be a key member of the Electronics Gases research and development team at the Linde Technology Center (LTC) in Tonawanda, NY, engaging and collaborating with Linde’s regional businesses, global customers, OEMs, and suppliers to develop and commercialize new materials, purification technologies, delivery systems, and packaging solutions for the Electronics specialty gases (ESGs) and advanced materials market. Execute projects in New Product Development to commercialize new specialty gases for the Linde Electronics business. Identify opportunities to improve existing chemical processes, develop and implement protocols to measure, analyze, improve, and control process performance. Develop into a recognized internal expert in electronics specialty materials production, providing technical guidance across projects. Support alignment of the Electronics R&D team with development partners, commercial team, and customers throughout all stages of technology development. Actively engage in internal and external technical collaborations to identify opportunities for new products and development programs. Contribute to the development of Linde intellectual property portfolio by preparing invention disclosures. Qualifications Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field plus more than five (5+) years of post-PhD industrial experience with product development within UHP specialty gases. Demonstrated success in commercialization of specialty chemical processes, preferably ESGs. Hands‑on experience with lab‑scale work involving high‑purity, hazardous ESGs, including analysis, purification, mixing, and packaging. Proven track record in developing, designing, and start‑up of lab‑scale systems or pilot plants for handling ESGs across cryogenic to high‑temperature ranges and ultra‑high‑vacuum to high‑pressure conditions. Experience scaling chemical processes from lab to plant level. Proficiency with chemical process modeling software such as COMSOL, UniSim, Aspen, with emphasis on ESG purification and distillation. Experience with P&ID development and review, HAZOP, PHA, and design safety reviews, demonstrating the ability to integrate safety into process development. Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast‑paced R&D environment with shifting priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including email, technical documentation, and presentations. Excellent interpersonal skills and effectiveness in collaborative teamwork.
