Unit Overview

• Beds: 40
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Charting System: Cerner
• Equipment: Standard PACU equipment
• Scrub Color: Surgical Green or Navy

Staffing & Support

• Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) available 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) scheduled daily and assigned to specific pods
• PCT capabilities include:
  • Lab draws
  • Catheterizations
  • Patient transport

Scheduling & Call Requirements

• Schedules created in 6-week blocks
• 3 call shifts required during each 6-week schedule period

Floating

May float within Peri-Anesthesia areas:

• Pre-Op
• Phase II Recovery
• Endoscopy

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Required Experience & Skills

Must Have

• PACU experience
• NIH Stroke Scale experience
• Trauma experience
• Pediatric experience

Advanced Skills

• Ventilator monitoring

Patient Population

• Adult and pediatric post-operative patients
• Trauma and high-acuity surgical recoveries
• Patients requiring advanced airway and ventilator monitoring

Dress Code

• Surgical Green scrubs
• Navy scrubs
