About the Position
Position Overview
One of our Partners in North Carolina is seeking a General Surgeon for periodic 24-hour call coverage at a community hospital serving eastern North Carolina.
This opportunity offers a balanced community surgery practice with support from an established surgical team and hospital staff. Responsibilities include inpatient consults, emergency surgery, acute care surgical management, and routine general surgery procedures.
The assignment is ideal for surgeons seeking periodic call coverage with a broad scope of practice and a manageable call environment.
Pay Ranking: Top 35–40% nationally among community General Surgery call opportunities (2026).

- 24-hour call coverage only
- Includes first 4 callback hours in daily call rate
- Established surgical practice
- Colonoscopy not required for weekend coverage
- Orientation required day before first shift and/or morning of first shift
- Existing surgeon support
- Both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
- No code response responsibilities
- ICU and critical care procedures required
- Approximately 65 surgical cases per month

- 9-bed Emergency Department
