Pediatric Home Care Nurse Duties & Responsibilities Assess children’s health problems and chart out a care plan. Provide one‑on‑one patient care. Administer medication and take and record vitals. Assess home situations to determine that children are in the best possible environment. Assist children with daily care such as grooming, bathing, and toileting. Provide emotional support to children and their families. Work with pediatricians to ensure that proper treatment is administered at all times. Ensure that the treatment provided is producing the expected results and alter procedures when the requirement occurs. Observe symptoms and report to the pediatrician. Start and monitor intravenous fluids. Observer children for changes in health. Act as a home health educator for children and their families. Work as a nurse advocate to safeguard the children’s rights. Record medical findings, symptoms, and observations. Ensure the safety of children at all times.
