Job TitlePatient Care TechnicianSummary Of DutiesProvides activities of daily living and other specified patient care procedures for the adult and geriatric patient.Essential Job FunctionsThe essential job functions include:Provides for patient's activities of daily living with either total or partial assistance as directed by patient condition: Bath or showerOral and/or denture carePerineal careTurning and repositioning every two hours or greater as indicated by patient needAmbulationMeal AssistancePerforms indirect patient care tasks and unit functions: including but not limited to: Answers call lights and relays information promptly to the nursesRuns errands to obtain medications, supplies, etc.Transports specimensInventories supplies; compiles list of needed suppliesStocks supplies and patient meds when delivered to facilityDischarge preparation (packing personal items, transports patient, etc.)Cleans and maintains unit and patient equipmentAssists patients with elimination needsPerforms simple range of motionPerforms finger stick blood glucose testPerforms intake and output measurements (oral, IV, NG, drains, etc.)Performs vital sign measurementsObtains 12 lead EKGsAssists physicians and nurses with special proceduresAssists with stocking of supplies and assesses inventory needs for medical and general supplies in coordination with the Administrative Secretary/Materiels Management Coordinator and/or other management staff, and following hospital purchasing protocolsCleans and stores dirty hospital equipment for future patient usePerforms other duties as assignedEducationHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required.ExperienceMinimum of one year of patient care experience required.Physical Requirements For Essential Job FunctionsThe physical requirements for essential job functions include:Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.Ability to walk and stand 80% of an 8 to 12 hour shift.Ability to push/pull up to 200 lbs. in order to position patients, move beds, carts, etc., and aid patients in ambulation.Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
