Carrier Recruiter

Summary As part of the quickly growing Linehaul Operations team, our Carrier Relations Specialist is responsible for the recruitment and retention of owner-operators for Daylight’s Fleet Program, including building and protecting relationships with our existing owner-operators. This is a people-first role. A big part of the job is face-to-face relationship building, meeting owner-operators in person, and being the point of contact who keeps those partnerships strong. The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication skills, enjoy working directly with people, and have experience recruiting or working with truck drivers. The candidate must be comfortable using technology tools to facilitate recruiting and willing to travel to meet owner-operators where they are. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Independently evaluate, qualify, and approve owner-operator candidates in accordance with established company standards and qualification criteria. Exercise independent judgment when determining candidate eligibility, contract terms, and program participation, consulting leadership on unique or exceptional situations. Make recommendations regarding compensation, rate adjustments, and program enhancements based on market conditions, operational needs, and departmental objectives. Negotiate contract terms, compensation, and business arrangements with prospective and existing owner-operators. Evaluate business needs and recommend creative solutions that balance owner-operator satisfaction with Linehaul operational goals. Serve as the primary business relationship manager for Daylight's owner-operator fleet, proactively managing retention, utilization, and performance. Make independent decisions regarding continuation, suspension, or termination of owner-operator relationships when warranted, while coordinating with Linehaul Operations to minimize operational impact. Resolve owner-operator concerns and negotiate mutually beneficial solutions to strengthen long-term partnerships. Partner with Linehaul Operations to align recruiting strategies with network capacity, service goals, and operational priorities. Support recruitment initiatives for company drivers (W-2 employees) and private fleet operations as business needs require. Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Marketing, Analytics, Payroll, and other departments to ensure successful onboarding, integration, and ongoing support of owner-operators. Develop and execute recruiting strategies using market intelligence, analytics, referrals, networking, advertising, and relationship development. Analyze recruiting trends, market conditions, and carrier capacity to recommend improvements to recruiting efforts and owner-operator program initiatives. Represent Daylight at recruiting events, industry functions, and networking opportunities to expand the owner-operator pipeline. Travel up to 25% is required to meet with owner-operators in person, including trips to other states where our owner-operators are based Supervisory Responsibilities None. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Recruiting experience required. Prior experience with Transportation & Logistics industry is preferred. Must have excellent customer service skills and communication. Language Skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as pay rates, mileage, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use creative thinking to continually enhance recruiting abilities required. Other Skills/Qualifications Computer literate. Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel. 10 keys. Prior experience with Salesforce, Google Analytics, or Google Ads preferred. Satisfactory task and time management skills required; advanced skills preferred.
