Job Summary: Provides total patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and individual patient needs in conformance with the recognized standards of nursing practice.

Duties and Essential Functions:

• Assesses patient and/or conducts screenings and documents utilizing standard scales when indicated as required per organization.
• Prioritizes and documents patient problems based on assessed needs/problems in collaboration with patient, family, and health care team.
• Documents changes in patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care/intervention.
• Utilizes organization-wide safe medication practices including, but not limited to the 5 rights of medication administration, barcode scanning and other medication safety processes specific to the unit/department.
• Knows actions and usual dosage, indications and side effects of medications administered.
• Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant other as needed according to the care, treatment services and identified risks specific to the patient and documents patient and/or family understanding.

Education/License/Certification/Other Requirements:

• Minimum requirement: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses.
• Maintains active RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (or other eNLC state with multistate privileges) and any other states as applicable.
• Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Achieve and maintain American Heart Association ACLS certification within 90 days of start.
• Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Working Environment:

• Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
• Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
• Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
• Frequently required to walk and move about.
• Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
• Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
• Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
• Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
