Cardiac Sonographer Key Responsibilities & Duties Perform echocardiography procedures to evaluate cardiac structures and hemodynamics independently. Review patient history and physician orders to ensure accurate and effective imaging. Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and expected outcomes to ensure cooperation and understanding. Select and use appropriate transducers and imaging parameters based on patient anatomy and diagnostic needs. Administer contrast media and medications within scope of practice when required. Monitor patient condition during procedures and respond to changes in status appropriately. Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures on imaging equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to ensure consistent imaging quality. Analyze imaging results, identify quality issues, and report findings accurately. Cardiac Sonographer Job Requirements Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or equivalent in allied health or related field. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider, valid at hire. Minimum of 1 year of experience in cardiac sonography preferred. Proficiency in using advanced imaging equipment and technologies. Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics. Ability to educate patients effectively and ensure their comfort during procedures. Commitment to safety standards and quality control in imaging practices.
