About the Position

Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 1 year of outpatient infusion experience and current chemotherapy certification License: Current RN License issued by the state nursing board Certifications: Current Basic Life Support, ACLS, Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Must-Have: - 1 year of experience - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques - Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees - Good verbal and written communication skills - Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors - Some computer skills Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and provides expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists the physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed and regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families in sharing care plans during clinic visits and times of discharge. Informs patients and families of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families and answers inquiries. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to treatment and assists with coordinating care by obtaining referrals. Completes phone calls with patients after their clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.
