Job Title: Machine / Rewind Operator Job Description

The Machine / Rewind Operator converts large rolls of printed and non-printed labels into precise quantities and sizes for customer orders. This role focuses on operating rewinding and slitting equipment, preparing finished rolls for shipping, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area in a light manufacturing, print-focused environment.

• Operate rewinding and related machinery to convert large rolls of printed and non-printed labels into specific quantities as requested by customers.
• Slit labels to the correct size when required, ensuring accuracy and consistency with order specifications.
• Inspect labels and finished rolls for quality, identifying and addressing defects before products move to shipping.
• Complete score sheets and production documentation to accurately record the amount and type of work performed.
• Lift, handle, and move rolls of paper weighing between 10 and 50 pounds throughout the shift.
• Bag and organize finished rolls on carts in preparation for shipping, ensuring products are clearly identified and properly staged.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area by regularly cleaning equipment and surrounding workspace.
• Follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while operating machinery and handling materials.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and shipping operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, production, or machine operation.
• Experience with machine operation, including starting, stopping, and monitoring production equipment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, production documents, and basic work orders.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create simple correspondence and memos.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and document work accurately.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, grasp, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, and use manual dexterity for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work required shifts, including Friday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Ability to complete approximately four weeks of training on a Monday–Thursday day shift schedule.

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, printing, or packaging environment.
• Familiarity with inspection and quality checks in a production setting.
• Comfort working with rewinding, slitting, or similar converting equipment.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure label sizes, counts, and quality meet customer requirements.
• Reliable work history demonstrating consistent attendance and commitment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment.

This role is based in a light manufacturing, printing-focused facility that is older but generally clean and well maintained due to the nature of the work. The position requires constant walking, standing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, and use of manual dexterity for extended periods. Color vision, hearing, and clear speech are regularly required to operate equipment safely and inspect printed materials. Team members regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, primarily rolls of paper and finished label products. The standard shift runs Friday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with an initial training period of approximately four weeks on a Monday–Thursday day shift. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork while maintaining a steady production pace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.11/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in New Albany,IN.
