About the Role:
The Life Enrichment Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by designing, implementing, and overseeing engaging and meaningful activities tailored to their interests and abilities. This position requires a compassionate and creative individual who can assess resident needs and preferences to develop programs that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. The coordinator collaborates closely with healthcare staff, families, and community resources to ensure a holistic approach to resident enrichment. Success in this role results in improved resident satisfaction, increased participation in activities, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Ultimately, the Life Enrichment Coordinator fosters an environment where residents feel valued, connected, and motivated to engage in daily life fully.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities in a recreational or therapeutic setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and lead group activities and individual engagement plans.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or equivalent.
- Experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or senior community environment.
- Training in CPR and First Aid.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and activity management software.
- Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse range of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
- Conduct assessments to identify resident interests, abilities, and goals to personalize activity plans effectively.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals and family members to integrate enrichment activities with individual care plans.
- Organize special events, outings, and group activities that encourage community involvement and social interaction.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, progress, and feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage and train volunteers and activity aides to support program delivery and resident engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and facility policies related to resident activities and safety.

The Life Enrichment Coordinator utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to connect with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams, ensuring activities meet diverse needs. Organizational skills are essential for planning, scheduling, and managing multiple programs simultaneously while maintaining detailed records. Creativity and problem-solving abilities enable the coordinator to design innovative and adaptable activities that engage residents of varying abilities. Leadership and team management skills are applied when training volunteers and collaborating with staff to deliver seamless programming. Additionally, proficiency with technology supports efficient documentation, reporting, and communication within the facility.
