Overview Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing, community-focused healthcare system. A hands-on accounting leader who builds processes, improves efficiencies, and makes a meaningful impact within communities across Central North Carolina. Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. Oversee annual audits, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and financial policies. Manage grant accounting and ensure compliance with federal funding requirements. Partner with executive leadership to improve processes, strengthen financial operations, and drive organizational effectiveness. Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment. Maintain banking relationships and support cash management activities. Ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. Collaborate with operational leaders to support financial accountability across the organization. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within healthcare or nonprofit organizations. Experience with grants accounting, financial compliance, and audit management. Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and accounting operations. Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams. Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
