Lead Barista

Bellecour, Gavin Kaysen’s French-influenced bakery and café in the 50th & France area of Edina, is looking for an experienced Lead Barista to help deliver exceptional guest experiences while supporting the daily flow of café operations.

This is an hourly, non-exempt role combining expert coffee service with service leadership responsibilities. As a Lead Barista, you will be a key presence during service—setting the tone for hospitality, supporting team communication, and helping ensure a smooth, organized guest experience. 

This position includes a higher hourly lead rate when scheduled and working in the Lead Barista capacity.

• Deliver warm, attentive hospitality and create an exceptional guest experience
• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and café offerings with consistency and care
• Provide knowledgeable menu guidance and personalized recommendations
• Process orders and payments accurately using the POS system
• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked service areas and equipment

• Serve as the lead point person during designated shifts, supporting smooth service and team communication
• Model exceptional hospitality, professionalism, and product knowledge
• Address guest concerns and operational issues, escalating to management when needed
• Lead pre-shift and post-shift communication to keep the team aligned on priorities and service standards

• Complete opening and closing responsibilities according to established procedures
• Maintain inventory of beverages and serviceware and communicate ordering needs
• Update menus and POS information as needed
• Complete end-of-shift reporting and communicate important guest, service, and staffing notes
• Support food safety, sanitation, and operational standards across all shifts

• At least 1 year of barista experience in a bakery, café, or restaurant.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of coffee and tea preparation techniques.
• Experience in handling cash and operating POS systems.
• Ability to memorize and recall menu details and ingredients.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Stand on your feet for up to 10 hours.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Paid Time Off (PTO), in accordance with Minnesota's Earned Sick and Safe Time law, is accrued at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked and is available for use as soon as it is accrued.
