Transfer Admissions Counselor Position Number: 003044 Classification Title: Student Services Specialist Competency Level: Journey Recruitment Range: $35,000 - $42,000 Appointment Type: Permanent - Full-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt FTE: 40 hours/week, 12 months Working Title: Transfer Admissions Counselor Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8 am-5 pm; to include weekends Position Overview This position is responsible for managing the transfer recruitment and enrollment partnerships in collaboration with NC Community Colleges. Manage the programs, including all recruiting and yield activities. Articulates admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors. Participates in University undergraduate admission recruitment activities, including college day/night programs, individual visits to post-secondary institutions, alumni meetings, and campus tour visitations. Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies Decision Making Manage a territory, including all recruiting and yield activities, within designated geographic areas. This entails admissions travel to participate in college fairs and high school visits, correspondence with a wide spectrum of constituencies including but not limited to students, parents, guidance counselors and community-based organizations. Effectively evaluates admission applications. Demonstrates effective time management and self directed skills to complete multiple task. Collaborate with key campus partners to identify, build and maintain strategic admission relationships with a variety of constituencies ranging from high school to community college counselors to meet desired enrollment goals. Program Management Develop and coordinate campus recruiting activities that yield for the University. Collaborates and coordinates with N.C. Community College partners and N.C. A&T Colleagues to ensure all transfer partnerships are successful. Takes action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences. Analyzes relevant policies and applies them across a variety of situations. Works successfully independently and within a team environment. Client/Customer Service Articulates admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors. Participates in recruitment activities that will involve extensive travel, both in state and out of state. Conducts information sessions on campus for prospective students and parents. Attends meetings with University faculty and various University committees to represent the Admissions Office. Understands and identifies student services issues, client needs and matters of a recurring nature to effectively address and resolve the issue. Demonstrates substantial interpersonal skills (written and verbal), good judgement, flexibility, and team work. Provides superior customer service. Information/Records Administration Demonstrates excellent skills in Microsoft Office, as well as utilizing/implementing vendor installed and University-specific software-related systems (i.e., Banner and Admission Pros etc.). Uses a variety of office equipment and information systems to access, input and verify standard information. Uses established filing and data systems, functions and procedures.
