Job Summary
JCS Solutions is seeking an accomplished Senior Storage Engineer to join our team supporting enterprise infrastructure operations in Fort Belvoir, VA. This role will lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise storage platforms, with a focus on maintaining high availability, performance, scalability, security, and operational resilience.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with storage architecture, SAN/NAS technologies, data protection, performance optimization, lifecycle management, and supporting integrated enterprise infrastructure environments.
We are looking for a candidate who can troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges, work effectively across infrastructure teams, and clearly communicate technical information to both customers and team members.

Salary Range: $70,000 to $100,000.

What you will do:

• Leading the engineering, administration, and support of enterprise storage environments, with a primary focus on NetApp and Dell Unity platforms.
• Designing and maintaining highly available, scalable storage solutions for file, block, and hybrid workloads.
• Performing provisioning, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of storage systems.
• Managing and optimizing storage environments, including aggregates, volumes, SVMs, snapshots, replication, quotas, tiering, and protocol configuration.
• Administering NetApp, Dell EMC, and Hitachi storage arrays, including pools, LUNs, file systems, NAS servers, snapshots, replication, FAST VP/tiering, and host connectivity.
• Supporting SAN and NAS infrastructure, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB/CIFS protocols.
• Ensuring system compliance with DISA STIG and DoD security requirements by leading critical hardening efforts.
• Monitoring storage health, capacity, utilization, and performance; identifying trends and recommending remediation or expansion strategies.
• Troubleshooting storage, replication, latency, pathing, and connectivity issues across hosts, hypervisors, and network fabrics.
• Planning and executing data migration efforts between legacy and target storage platforms with minimal downtime.
• Implementing and supporting business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities, including snapshot policies, replication, failover, and recovery testing.
• Providing mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members to foster a deeper understanding of storage technologies.
• Developing and maintaining documentation related to storage architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Evaluating and recommending emerging storage solutions to continuously optimize system performance and efficiency.
• Supporting projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the storage environment.
• Working with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution.

What you will bring:

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required at time of hire.
• Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11-IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP) at time of consideration.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or master’s degree with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional technical experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Current Top Secret/SCI clearance at time of consideration.
• Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP) at time of consideration.
• Advanced knowledge of storage systems architecture, lifecycle engineering, and infrastructure modernization principles.
• Demonstrated experience with NetApp, Dell EMC, Hitachi, VMware vSAN and other storage technologies.
• Strong working knowledge of enterprise computing environments (physical, virtual, hybrid) and server virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware).
• Working knowledge of virtualization such as VMware vSphere and backup technologies such as NetBackup, Commvault and Veeam.
• Strong knowledge of SANs, Fibre Channel fabric, and storage technologies.
• Deep understanding of DISA STIGs, system hardening, and DoD security compliance frameworks.
• Develop storage standards, architecture documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, virtualization, and storage layers.

How you will wow us:

• Experience supporting large-scale Windows and Linux server environments.
• ITIL 5 Foundation Certification
• Experience with storage migrations using native and third-party tools.
• Knowledge of backup platforms such as Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, or similar.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI for automation tasks.
• Experience in regulated, highly available, or mission-critical environments.
• Prior work within the Department of War and familiarity with its IT environments.

At JCS Solutions, compensation is based on a number of factors such as location, qualifications, and applicable contract terms. The general salary range for this position is as follows: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00
