Special Education Teacher – New Brunswick, New Jersey | 2026–2027 School Year

Sunbelt Staffing is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This opportunity is located in New Brunswick, NJ and is ideal for an experienced educator who has worked with students with autism and is committed to fostering communication, independence, and academic growth.

Position Overview

• Position: Special Education Teacher
• Location: New Brunswick, NJ 08901
• Start Date: September 2, 2026
• End Date: End of School Year
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Hours: Full-Time
• Daily Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
• School Assignment: 1 campus

Job Responsibilities

• Teach students in a self-contained autism classroom serving Pre-K through 1st Grade
• Support approximately 6–8 students
• Work with a classroom team that includes 2 paraprofessionals
• Collaborate with related service providers, including BCBAs, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and additional support staff
• Create, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Deliver individualized instruction designed to improve communication, functional skills, and academic progress
• Utilize positive behavior supports and evidence-based instructional strategies
• Maintain compliance with all state and district special education requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Active New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) certification required
• Active PreK–3 Teaching Certificate required ( K–6 certification does not meet district requirements )
• Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) certification accepted when paired with the required credentials
• Previous experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder is required
• Experience working with nonverbal students and students with significant behavioral and communication needs is strongly preferred
