Facilities Maintenance Engineer
The Facilities Maintenance Engineer supports daily facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas by maintaining and troubleshooting building systems such as compressed air, compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, and utilities. This role performs general maintenance and repairs to ensure production readiness, manages work orders and preventive maintenance schedules, and coordinates vendors and contractors for facility repairs and improvements. The engineer also supports facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and equipment moves while contributing to safety and environmental health support activities in collaboration with the EHS team.
Responsibilities
- Support daily facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas to ensure reliable and safe building performance.
- Troubleshoot and maintain building systems including compressed air, compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, and utilities to minimize downtime and support production.
- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and routine equipment checks to maintain production readiness and facility reliability.
- Manage and prioritize work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and associated documentation to keep maintenance activities organized and traceable.
- Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors for facility repairs, maintenance services, and building improvements, ensuring work quality and adherence to site requirements.
- Support facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and equipment moves, including planning, coordination, and execution of related tasks.
- Conduct facility safety inspections and walkthroughs to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement under guidance from the EHS team.
- Assist with hazard identification, implementation of corrective actions, and basic safety compliance tasks related to facilities and building systems.
- Perform regular checks of emergency equipment such as eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and AEDs to ensure readiness.
- Support incident response and follow-up activities related to facilities or building systems, including documentation and corrective actions.
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities and drills, helping to ensure the site is ready for potential emergencies.
- Help maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness, including logs, reports, and maintenance records.
- Work closely with the EHS team to maintain a safe, compliant work environment across all facility areas.
- Be available as a first responder during night shifts for facilities-related emergencies or urgent maintenance needs.
- Use basic computer systems to enter, track, and update work orders, maintenance logs, and other facility-related documentation.
- Collaborate with senior facilities technicians and EHS personnel during training and ongoing operations to align on procedures and priorities.
- Apply strong organizational and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues, recommend solutions, and execute repairs efficiently.
- Work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including work with compressed air systems, compressors, generators, and production support equipment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and general facility maintenance practices.
- Hands-on experience with facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment for 5+ years.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment such as air compressors and electrical panels.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and the ability to perform routine HVAC checks and maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated skills in mechanical maintenance and repair of facility-related equipment.
- Proficiency in using basic computer systems for documentation, work orders, and maintenance logs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders, schedules, and priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment and facility issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn EHS fundamentals and actively support safety programs and initiatives.
- Experience with plumbing, facilities maintenance, and troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform maintenance technician duties across multiple systems, including HVAC, mechanical equipment, and utilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience coordinating and overseeing external vendors and contractors for facility maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Familiarity with emergency equipment checks, including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, exits, and AEDs.
- Experience supporting incident response and follow-up activities related to facilities or building systems.
- Exposure to safety inspections, walkthroughs, and basic compliance tasks in collaboration with an EHS team.
- Comfort working as a first responder for facilities-related issues during night shifts.
- Experience supporting facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and equipment moves in a production environment.
- Ability to align work schedules and activities with senior facilities technicians and EHS personnel.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility that includes production areas, warehouses, and office spaces, requiring regular movement throughout the site and interaction with various departments. You work directly with building systems such as compressed air, compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, utilities, and electrical panels, using standard maintenance tools, equipment, and computer-based work order systems. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and preventive maintenance. The schedule begins with a training period on a day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM for the first four weeks, aligned with senior facilities and EHS technicians. After training, the regular schedule runs from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, supporting evening and night operations. The role requires readiness to respond to facilities-related issues during the night shift and to participate in safety inspections, emergency equipment checks, and preparedness drills as part of ongoing operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
